Sean Abbott is the Player of the Match. He says the pitch suited the bowlers. It was not easy to bat but the batters showed good strength. Tells Mitchell Marsh always takes the pressure off others and there is great energy in the group.
Aiden Markram says they got a good start but lost wickets and it got challenging. Adds it was hard to keep the nerves when Australia were batting. Shares they lacked experience in this game and hopes his players learn from it.
...Presentation coming up...
The bowlers took a real beating. They leaked runs and made this modest total look like a cakewalk for the Aussies. A better performance was expected by the Proteas. They leaked more than 200 in the first match and now failed to defend with 5 overs to still spare. Earlier, Temba Bavuma got South Africa off to a flier but they lost lost too many wickets in the middle phase. Aiden Markram made sure South Africa reach a decent total. Sean Abbott was the pick of the bowler though as he took three wickets.
Australia have outclassed South Africa twice in a row. The expectations were high for South Africa to bounce back but they got punched in the face this time. Chasing a modest total, the Proteas started well, keeping it tight and even got Head cheaply however, once Marsh came in, the carnage started. He along with Matthew Short added around 100 runs. Both got to his fifty but it was the skipper who yet again stayed not out to take his team over the line.
A captains innings from Marsh YET AGAIN. 92 not out in the first match, 79 not out to follow to seal the series. Fair to say that Mitchell Marsh is loving the captaincy role.
