That is all from this game. On the 23rd of this month, Trinbago Knight Riders will take on St Kitts and Nevis Patriots as the action moves to Trinidad. Join us at 4.30 am IST (11 pm GMT, the previous day) and earlier for the build up. Cheers!
Johnson Charles is the Player of the Match. He says that they played yesterday and realised that the wicket is a bit on the slower side. He admitted that left-arm bowlers have posed a challenge for him, pushing him to evolve his game, particularly with the switch hit. While it's still a work in progress, he feels he's steadily improving. Feels that on such surfaces you just have to hang around a bit and soak some pressure early on.
Faf du Plessis says they had a plan, they were looking for 130-140 but was surprised how it played in the middle overs but were happy to get a score around 160. Tells the bowlers squeezed Barbados Royals really well after such a start they had. Mentions the message was to limit the damage in the Powerplay and to take wickets regularly. Credits the way Ackeem Auguste is playing and they are backing him which is important for the young players. Feels Ackeem Auguste needs to be in the Test side as he plays the spin well.
Rovman Powell says it's a case of too many runs as they gave away too many runs in the back end. Tells they were aggressive in the Powerplay as it was hard to hit the soft ball. Shares Rahkeem Cornwall is having a knee issue which is why Kadeem Alleyne is opening. Mentions they need to play according to the conditions and the next game is a big one for them.
...Presentation...
Earlier in the day, Saint Lucia Kings got a competitive score thanks to a fifty from Johnson Charles up the order and a couple of cameos from Tim Seifert and David Wiese. Seifert was going along nicely but Ackeem Auguste alongside him was struggling. Ackeem Auguste got retired hurt as he was not able to hit the big shots and David Wiese came in place of him and gave a perfect finish. Fair to say, it did make a big difference to the total and to the result.
Barbados Royals started the chase on a good note, Kadeem Alleyne and Quinton de Kock laid the foundation with a fine fifty plus opening stand but once Quinton de Kock fell, Barbados Royals went into a shell as they lost the top three in quick succession. Miller, Holder played for a long period of time but they failed to hit the lusty blows. It all came down to Jason Holder to do something special in the last over but the big West Indian failed to make a winning impact.
Saint Lucia Kings do the double over Barbados Royals but more importantly, they go on top of the table for now. A fine, fine performance from them. It needed Saint Lucia Kings to work hard right till the last over. In the first leg, their bowlers troubled the Royals batter and once again it was the bowling department who stepped up to defend the total.

A length ball, on off. Maharaj pushes it into covers for one.
OUT! CAUGHT! This should be the final nail in the coffin. It is way too full, on off. Jason Holder wants to continue his aggression here. He gets under the ball and lofts it down to long off. Although, he fails to get the desired distance on it. Khary Pierre rushes in front and takes a sharp catch. Keshav Maharaj is the new batter in.
