Right then, that is it from this exciting contest where Chepauk gets an important win in their hopes of qualification to playoffs while Trichy are still winless and will look to finish the season on a high in their last game. The action in the Tamil Nadu T20 League continues on 3rd July, Monday when Dindigul take on Salem. That game will start at 7.15 pm IST (1.45 pm GMT), but you can join use early for all the build-up. Cheers!
M Silambarasan is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his match-winning spell.
Earlier in the game, after being put to bat first, Chepauk did not perform to their best with the bat but good contribution from R Sibi and Uthirasamy Sasidev took them to a respectable total. Ganga Sridhar Raju took three wickets for Trichy whole Easwaran K picked up a brace and V Athisayaraj Davidson got one but their batters did not back them up and fell to yet another defeat.
Trichy came out to bat chasing a relatively low score but the confidence was not there at all. Their batters never really got going and except for Daryl Ferrario who scored 45 runs no other batter went into the double digits. It was yet another dismal batting display from them as they fell to their sixth loss in a row. The star bowler for Chepauk was M Silambarasan with a finger while Sanjay Yadav got a couple as well. Baba Aparajith, S Harish Kumar and Baba Aparajith also chipped in with one each as they win by 58 runs defending a low score of 129 runs.
What a win for Chepauk! It did not look likely after the first innings as they were not able to post a big target but their bowlers stepped big time especially M Silambarasan with a five-wicket haul helped them get over the line.
