Right then, that is it from this nail-biting game of cricket. The excitement of the BPL 2024 continues. All you need to do is switch tabs and find yourselves in a good company of a lot more cricketing again going across the globe. Until then, cheers!
Tanzid Hasan is the player of the match and he says he is happy that they won a close contest. Adds that after losing 2 wickets early on, they planned to take the game deep and then accelerate at the end and thankfully it worked out.
The skipper of Chattogram Challengers, Shuvagata Hom says the credit goes to the bowlers as they bowled brilliantly and defended the total. Credits Tanzid Hasan and Tom Bruce for batting well and putting up that partnership which helped them win this game. Adds that the bowling did well at the end and performed well in a key situation.
The skipper of Durdanto Dhaka, Taskin Ahmed says it is disappointing to end up on the losing side as the wicket looked good to chase this down. Credits Mosaddek Hossain and Alex Ross for playing well and keeping them in the game but expresses his disappointment with the top order by saying they should have done well.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in the game, Chattogram Challengers won the toss and opted to bat first and managed to post a total of 159 runs on the board. They didn't start their innings as they planned but a rugged partnership of Tom Bruce and Tanzid Hasan helped them to post a target to defend. Durdanto Dhaka's bowling unit was in total form tonight but their batting unit should have chased it. In the second innings, no other player than Alex Ross stood up to oppose the opposition's bowlers. However, Chattogram are still up and running for the playoffs and should be happy with the result of the game.
On the other side, the top-order batters of Durdanto Dhaka failed to make a good head start for their team. They were too careful about their wickets in the first couple of overs but in the third over two of their batters got dismissed in the single over. Alex Ross and Mohammad Naim combined and slowed the pace of the game. They had a sturdy partnership of 51 runs of 46 deliveries but it broke with the dismissal of Naim just when he was looking dangerous. However, on the other side of the pitch, Alex Ross started turning out big shots to gain some control of the match. He played like a lone wolf, but things didn't turn on his side as he had to walk down the pavilion scoring 55 runs off 44 deliveries. Mosaddek Hossain tried his level best with a few blows of boundary but was not lucky enough.
A win for Chattogram Challengers means their hopes for the playoffs are still alive. Chattogram Challengers started their inning by picking two wickets in back-to-back deliveries in the powerplay. It was none other than the skipper himself, Shuvagata Hom, who drew the first two blood for his team and curtailed any early momentum for the opposition. However, they failed to continue the wickets on daily events which helped to build a partnership with their opposition, but Shohidul Islam did the important job of breaking the partnership in the 11th over. After the event, Chattogram Challengers was back on track, and after a few more wickets they disrupted the opposition's rhythm at a crucial time. At the end of the innings, Shuvagata Hom picked up two wickets and Bilal Khan, Salauddin Sakil, and Shohidul Islam chipped in for one each.
