That is the end of this series. The trophy is handed to Pat Cummins. A comprehensive win as Australia clean sweep the series. A big turnaround for England as they were handed the medals just a few weeks ago and will go home with a bittersweet ending. Do keep checking the schedule page as the action keeps on coming. Till then, goodbye and cheers!
Pat Cummins, the captain of Australia says it has been a fantastic series, the bowlers and the batters have done really well. States it was a tricky wicket and Head and Warner were brilliant. Mentions the way Head has played was brilliant. Ends by saying this win has given them a lot of confidence heading into the Test series and they are looking forward to it.
Jos Buttler, the skipper of England says they tried their best, he admits Australia outplayed them, adds there is a lot to be proud of though of what they have achieved in recent times.
David Warner wins the Player of the Series. He says it is the team which has been brilliant and they have played really well, the bowlers and the batters have been really good. Laughs, 2024 is a long time away and if he keeps fit and keeps scoring runs, he might be here again. Credits Pat Cummins for the way he has captained and he just wants to concentrate on contributing for the team. He would feel great if he can captain a Big Bash side and help the youngsters come through.mo
Travis Head wins the Player of the Match. He says he was trying to stay positive and play his shots and it was nice he could get things going. Adds he and Warner both try and be positive and score freely and they like attacking the bowling and it has been a good start.
...Presentation coming up...
Australia on the other hand, were brilliant with the bat first and were equally good with the ball. All their bowlers got a wicket at least but Adam Zampa was the pick. However, the way Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins bowled with the new ball was brilliant too. Overall, it was a clinical show by the hosts. The star of the show were the openers of Australia, 150 by Travis Head and 100 by David Warner honestly put this game on the bed.
Another dominating win for the Aussies and they have completed the whitewash! This game though was done and dusted in the first innings itself. Above 350 on this wicket was going to be an improbable task and England have fallen well short. None of their batters managed to cross the 40-run mark and that is not what you need when chasing such a big score. Roy though was the only positive as he did find some form but overall, it is a game the English would want to forget.
