Right then, that is it from the game. Islamabad United have won the game comprehensively. The Pakistan Super League action continues as Quetta Gladiators takes on Islamabad United on Friday, 24th of February. The game begins at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT). Do join us a bit early for the build-up as well. Till then, goodbye and cheers!
Shadab Khan the skipper of Islamabad United says that they performed well. Adds that the pitch was slow and he believed in Hasan Ali. Says that they believed in their team and they bowled according to the plan. Ends by saying that he is really happy with the teams performance.
Hasan Ali is the player of the match. He says that he kept dreaming on himself and his hard work paid off. Adds that his wife motivated him and he bowled according to the plan. Ends by saying that the juniors respected him and he is happy with the win.
Babar Azam the skipper of Peshawar Zalmi says that they started really well and they executed their plans well. Adds that Hasan Ali delivered back-to-back wickets in the first innings and that changed the momentum of the game. Says that he started his innings well but couldn't finish well due to a lack of partners. Ends by saying that the bowling was not up to the mark and the fielding as well and they need to work on it.
Presentations coming up...
Rahmanullah Gurbaz is in for a quick chat. He says that it was amazing and Hasan brought them back into the game after that electrifying start by the opponents. Adds that he is excited to be back and says that the wicket was not easy. Ends by saying that some balls were gripping and he tried to be positive in his approach.
Earlier in the day, after being invited to bat first, the Peshawar Zalmi openers Mohammad Haris and Babar Azam started the innings on a positive note but lost momentum after the first wicket was dismissed. Babar Azam kept on batting till the very end, but the non-strikers kept on losing wickets. Hasan Ali was excellent with the ball and ended up with three wickets on his name.
Well, there is not much to write about the Peshawar Zalmi bowlers here. They struggled with the ball. They did get an early wicket of Colin Munro but just couldn't get the wicket of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Rassie van der Dussen. They did manage to get them but the damage was already done. All of their bowlers leaked runs and just managed to get four wickets.
A comprehensive win for Islamabad United and they win the game with 6 wickets in hand. They started off with all guns blazing and it was Rahmanullah Gurbaz who ran a havoc over the bowler. Let me remind you that Rahmanullah Gurbaz was dropped twice in the game and he went on to score 62 off 31 deliveries. He was well supported by Rassie van der Dussen who scored 42 runs. Both the batters were dismissed but they made sure the job was already done. Later, Asif Ali played a good knock and finished things off alongside Azam Khan.
