Right then, that is all we have from Gabba! The focus will shift to the 'G' where Melbourne Stars will take on Adelaide Strikers on Thursday, 12th of January. The action will start at 1.45 pm IST (8.15 am GMT). Do join us early for the build-up. Cheers!
Jason Behrendorff is the Player of the Match and he says that the length is crucial on such wickets, need to be hitting the top of the stumps and making it hard for the batters. Explains that it it is about mastering the swing early and if he can get the ball to move, it helps in taking wickets in the Powerplay. Claims that he has worked on slower balls and yorkers, and it is good that he can try it out in these games. Mentions that Jhye Richardson has been outstanding in the tournament so far and he was missed. Adds that they are a close knit group having played together a lot which allows there to be continuity and that shows on the field. Ends by giving credit to Ashton Turner for marshaling the troops well.
Brisbane Heat, on the other hand, need to go back to the drawing board as they have been outplayed in all departments in this game. They started on a brisk note with the bat in the first half but kept losing wickets at regular intervals and though the partnership between Pierson and Bryant took them over 150 it was never going to be enough. They bowled well in the Powerplay in the second half to keep themselves in the game but once Inglis started attacking them, they just could not find answers and ended up losing this game by a huge margin.
Perth Scorchers did what they have been doing all season. Their bowlers set things up with a strong bowling performance again. Jason Behrendorff was brilliant and got three wickets while all others also contributed their bit. They had just 156 to chase and with the depth and quality they have, it was always going to be difficult to stop them. Scorchers did lose two early wickets but then the talented young man Hardie and explosive Inglis came together and stitched an unbeaten partnership of 132 runs to take their side home without much fuss. Both got to their respective fifties and Scorchers really are looking unstoppable at the moment.
The reigning champions have put together another dominating performance and they now move to the top of the table with this convincing win. They really look like a well-oiled unit and are going from strength to strength now. Heat, on the other hand, made five changes to their squad with Test stars coming in but the performances on the field have been far from convincing again.

SIX! Aaron Hardie finishes the game in style! Spencer Johnson bowls this short and outside the off pole. Aaron Hardie has been pulling these deliveries for fun and he gets a hold of this one as well. He deposits it into the crowd at deep mid-wicket and Perth Scorchers win by 8 wickets with 22 balls remaining. Definitely a walk in the park for the reigning champions.
