India and Sri Lanka are locking horns in the finale of the Asia Cup in the latter’s home ground of Colombo. The match, which was scheduled to start at 3 p.m., was interrupted due to the rain delay at the beginning. Indian And Sri Lankan skippers Rohit Sharma and Kusal Mendis got on the ground, with Sri Lanka winning the toss and deciding to bat. However, the decision to bat seems to have proven to be a nightmare for the home country.

Fastest six-wicket haul in cricket history

Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has unleashed his magic in the game by taking his first five-wicket haul and his first six-wicket haul. This remarkable and surprising achievement by the 29-year-old has made Sri Lanka’s dream of winning the Asia Cup trophy doubtful.
It is astounding that Siraj took his five-wicket haul at a moment when only five odd overs were bowled to Sri Lanka in less than 15 runs.

Dropping down the fine line-up of Sri Lankan batsmen

India’s stalwart pacer Jasprit Bumrah started off by taking the opening wicket, making Sri Lanka 1 for 1. Right after that, Siraj took control of wickets with four knockouts in his second over of the match and another subsequent wicket in the next over he bowled. He first got rid of opener Pathum Nissanka, turning it into a catch-out by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja after Bumrah sent Kusal Perera packing. The third ball sent Sadeera Samarawickrama back, with the ball being a LBW. On his very next delivery, Siraj scalped Asalanka’s wicket when the ball came safely into the hands of Ishan Kishan.

He then again came back with this charm by knocking off Dhananjaya de Silva. In the 5th over, he caught off Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka and smashed Kusal Mendis in the 11th over of the match, after which he completed his very first and, surprisingly, fastest six-wicket haul in ODI cricket history.

Mohammed Siraj’s gallant display of bowling has, in all appearances, seemed to acclaim a different fanbase for the 29-year-old. This extraordinary achievement surely holds a bright future for Mohammed Siraj.
