After Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews infamous ‘timed-out’ dismissal, the cricketer has been in talks for a while now since the commencement of the match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Now, the incident has captured a larger image with New Zealand’s cricketers Kane Williamson and Trent Boult teasing Angelo in a light hearted incident when he walked to the crease to bat today at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Angelo Mathews also became the first cricketer in the history of the World Cup to get dismissed “timed out”.

Sharing laughs

Kane Williamson and Trent Boult teased Angelo Mathews who himself shared a laugh with Kane and Trent on the crease. When Angelo Mathews walked in to bat at the ninth over today against New Zealand following Charith Asalanka’s dismissal, Mathews was quick to the field with Kane Williamson approaching him with teasing questions like if his helmet strap was fine, joking about it basically. Mathews laughed it off and the three cricketers could be seen enjoying the funny moment instead. Though, the moment can be termed as a special one for Mathews after he was very disappointed with the decision of Shakib Al Hasan to not withdraw the appeal against Angelo which came as a controversial decision.

Match so far

After having won the toss, New Zealand skipper Tom Latham opted to field first and bowled out all of the Sri Lankan players at 172 with 3 overs to spare. None of the Sri Lankan players other than Kusal Perera could score a half century with Perera having played a knock of 51 runs off 28 deliveries. New Zealand’s veteran bowler Trent Boult took 3 wickets for his team dismissing the likes of Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka to dismiss Sri Lanka for 172. With New Zealand yet to bat, it seems the Black Caps will achieve the target very easily.
