Twists on the Squad:

Team India is all set to play a three-match T20 series against Afghanistan. Ahead of the series, BCCI has announced the squad for the series. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are back in the T20 squad after 14 months. After losing the semifinal against England in the T20 World Cup in 2022, the duo didn’t feature in any T20 matches. A lot of buzz was going over their participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Now, everything is clear.

There are a lot more twists. Ishan Kishan opted out from the Test series in South Africa for mental fatigue. He has not been named in the T20 squad against against Afghanistan. Shivam Dube made a comeback in the squad after a long. Shreyas Iyer was the vice-captain for the five-match T20 series against Australia. But he has been dropped from the T20 series against Afghanistan.

Aakash Chopra’s Word:

After those changes, former Indian batter Aakash Chopra raised questions over that matter. On his social media handle, he wrote, “ Iyer was nominated as the Vice-Captain for the 5-match T20i series vs Australia. Was a part of the squad against SA too. Now, finds no place in the team vs Afghanistan. Dubey was in the squad vs Aus at home. Wasn’t picked for SA. Back in the team vs AFG. Also, where is Ishan Kishen? Any news on his availability?”

Before the T20 World Cup, India is playing their final T20 series against Afghanistan. The series will start from January 11. Mohali will host the first fixture. The second and third T20 matches will be played on January 14 and 17 in Indore and Bengaluru. Rohit Sharma will lead the team against Afghanistan. In the absence of Rashid Khan, Ibrahim Zadran will lead the Afghanistan side.
