The magic of Test cricket is back. After a long period of white-ball format, Australia and Pakistan have met to play a three-match Test series in Australia. The first Test match started on December 14 and turned out to be a dramatic one. The Aussies are dominating. On the fourth day of the match, Aussie bowler Nathan Lyon completed 500 test wickets. That was an unusual record. After that achievement, Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin praised him. 

Lyon’s 500 Wickets in Test:

Australia is one of the best teams in world cricket. They just named the World Cup. In the Test format, they are one of the greats. After the World Cup, they are facing Pakistan in a Test series. In the second innings, the Aussie bowler Nathan Lyon registered his 500th test wicket after dismissing Pakistan’s Faheem Ashraf. The talented off-spinner achieved this fate in his 123th match. 

The bowler made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in 2011. He has become the third Aussie bowler to achieve this milestone. After Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath, he is standing in the third position. In 2011, Nathan Lyon got his first wicket after dismissing Kumar Sangakkara. In the next year, in 2012, he registered his 50th Test wicket by dismissing Jacques Rudolph. Stuart Broad became the 100th test wicket. The Test career of this bowler remained eventful. Taking 500 wickets in the longest format of cricket is not an easy task. But he achieved the milestone and entered into the elite club.

Ashwin’s Praise:

After a long break, Australia returned to the longest format of cricket. They are locking horns with Pakistan in a Test series. Nathan Lyon registered 500th Test wickets in the first Test match against Pakistan. After reaching this milestone, praise came for him all the way. Indian legendary spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also praised him. On his social media handle, he wrote, “8th bowler and only 2nd off-spinner in history to pick 500 test wickets. @NathLyon421 Congrats mate.”

In the first Test match, Australia played dominating cricket. In the first innings, Australia put on a huge score of 487 runs on the board. In the first innings, Pakistan got all out on 271 runs. The domination continued over Pakistan. In the second innings, Australia declared their innings in 233 runs. The last innings of Pakistan were horrible. Not even a single Pakistani batter got a chance to stand tall in front of the Aussie bowlers. They got all-out on 89 runs. Mitchell Starc and Hazelwood, both got three wickets each. Australia hammered Pakistan with a massive win of 360 runs.
