Sunil Gavaskar wondered why Rahul Chahar was not picked for the India-New Zealand T20I series. Chahar who had been taken to the squad ahead of the experienced Yuzvendra Chahal, failed to make the cut for the upcoming home series.
Rahul Chahar was given priority over Yuzvendra Chahal for India’s T20 World Cup campaign. But he featured in only one match for India against Namibia where he conceded 30 runs in his four overs. India will be playing T20I series against New Zealand at home from November 17 and Chahal made a comeback for the same. But Rahul Chahar was not picked up in the Team India squad for the same by the selectors.
Sunil Gavaskar, former Indian cricketer said, “I am pretty certain that Rahul Chahar would be wondering what he has done that he’s not in this 16 that has been announced. He was good enough to be in the 15 for the World Cup. He got one opportunity in which he gave away 7.5 runs an over. So he will be certainly wondering what did he do wrong. I hope that somebody from the selection committee would tell him the reason [why] he’s out of this squad.”
