Carrying on the spin-bowling duties
The former Australian cricketer expressed that two of Australia‘s spin bowlers Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell can certainly do the job of spin-bowling for the team to their best efforts. George also shared that Australia has plenty of options in regards to bowlers and all-rounders.
While speaking at the press conference, he reckoned that Glenn’s record in the white ball series is nothing short of remarkable. He said “Think it’s unfair on Maxi to say he’s not a specialist spinner. Think his white-ball spinning record is pretty handy and you could very much consider him a frontline option. We certainly consider that we have two frontline spinners within our first-choice XI.”
Glenn’s career best record
The 34-year old Australian spinner has already registered 64 scalps from a total of 129 games. Though he failed with the bat in the 3rd and final ODI match against India in Rajkot, he registered his career best of 4/40 leading Australia to win by a margin of 66 runs. His spell propelled Australia to victory and he took some major wickets including that of Rohit Sharma.
Five-time World Cup champions Australia will start off its World Cup campaign from October 8. Its first match is scheduled against the host country India at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
