Amidst criticism of his leadership and the crowd’s disapproval, Hardik Pandya addressed the situation on Tuesday. Mumbai Indians faced a dismal start to the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, losing all three initial matches. Their latest defeat came against Rajasthan Royals at home, landing them at the bottom of the points table. Pandya’s remarks came in response to the team’s poor performance and the discontent expressed by spectators during matches.

Mumbai Indians’s IPL 2024 Journey Till Now:

Commencing their season against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, Mumbai Indians encountered a significant moment as Hardik Pandya returned to his former home ground since joining MI last November. Despite an enthralling match at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Mumbai endured a six-run defeat against the five-time champions.

In their subsequent encounter, Mumbai Indians confronted a formidable challenge as Sunrisers Hyderabad amassed a record-breaking total of 277 runs. Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen each notched up fifties. Despite Mumbai’s valiant effort, Sunrisers’ disciplined bowling in the closing overs restricted them to 246 for five at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

During their maiden home game on Monday, Mumbai struggled with their batting display as Riyan Parag of Rajasthan Royals spearheaded an impressive chase, securing an unbeaten 54 runs. Rajasthan comfortably clinched victory, sealing the match with 27 balls to spare.

Hardik Pandya’s Tweet:

Following the defeat against RR, Mumbai Indians suffered their third consecutive loss in the ongoing IPL season. Hardik Pandya faced criticism in the aftermath of the six-wicket defeat against the Royals. However, a day later, Hardik took to Twitter to share a motivational message. Asserting that MI will not surrender, Hardik reaffirmed the team’s commitment to continue fighting despite the setbacks they’ve faced in the tournament so far.

On his X handle, Hardik wrote, “If there’s one thing you should know about this team, we never give up. We’ll keep fighting, we’ll keep going.”

Also, Hardik said at the post-match presentation, “Yes, a tough night, we didn’t start the way we wanted to start. I wanted to counter, we were in a decent position to get us around 150-160, but my wicket allowed them to get back more into the game, I needed to do a lot more.”

He added, “It’s okay, we didn’t expect such a surface, but you can’t always have it as a batter, it’s nice at times for the bowlers to have a say. It’s all about doing the right things, (correct) results happen at times, at some other times it doesn’t. As a group, we believe we can do a lot better, but we need to be a bit more disciplined and show a lot more courage.”
