England’s white-ball captain, Jos Buttler, has officially changed his name to “Josh Buttler,” as announced by the England Cricket Board (ECB) in a unique and humorous video. The decision comes after years of Buttler being called the wrong name by various people, including his own mother.

ECB Posts a video about Jos Butler

In the video, Buttler explains the mispronunciations and misspellings he has endured throughout his life, including on his MBE medal. Fed up with the continuous errors, Buttler decided to officially change his name to Josh Buttler.

The video ends with a producer addressing Buttler as “Jos” instead of “Josh,” leading Buttler to throw away his pen in frustration, highlighting the ongoing struggle with his name’s pronunciation.

Buttler’s leadership skills were instrumental in England’s T20 World Cup triumph in Australia in late 2022. England will be hoping for a strong performance from Buttler in the IPL to prepare for their title defense in the Caribbean.

Josh Buttler, as he is now officially known, is currently representing Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The 33-year-old cricketer has played 57 Tests, 181 ODIs, and 114 T20Is for England. He will also lead the defending champions in the upcoming T20 World Cup, to be held in the USA and the Caribbean.
