The World Cup has been ended a few days back. After that, India and Australia met again in a five-match T20 series. The majority of the senior players are in the rest and youngsters are playing this series against the Aussies. Deepak Chahar is one of them. Recently, he opened up about his desire to play test matches for India. 

Deepak Chahar’s Words:

After a long time, Deepak Chahar came back to the Indian squad. He was named to the team for the final two T20 matches against Australia. Deepak Chahar played a few white-ball matches for India but has not been a part of India’s test side. According to him, he is eagerly waiting to play for India. He believes that he has the potential to play test cricket for India.

On this matter, he said, “ There is preparation involved in everything we do. If you look at it, my preparation was good for the Ranji Trophy and also for the IPL (last Season). I will not be able to play a test match if I am suddenly informed that I’ll play a test. For that matter, no one else probably can,”

Then he added, “If I am told one month in advance, then I’ll prepare accordingly. I will increase my workload accordingly. I have the swing; I have the Ideas; it’s just that I’ll need a month to prepare. I would love to play Test for India.”

International career and Last match Performance:

Deepak Chahar has appeared in International cricket for India a few times. He went on the Sri Lanka tour in 2021 and performed well. For India, he played 13 ODIs and 24 T20s. In both formats, he took 45 wickets. Along with the ball, he can also bat well in the crucial situation. He is still waiting for his maiden test call-up for India. 

For the fourth T20 international, India and Australia met in Raipur. Deepak Chahar was named in the squad for the fourth and fifth match. While bowling in the second innings, Chahar gave little more runs and along with that, he managed to take 2 wickets. As his first wicket, he picked up Tim David when he was batting on 19. Matt Short was his second wicket. India won the match by 20 runs.
