Kedar Jadhav, the middle order batsman of Indian cricket team has been declared fit for the ICC World Cup 2019 on Saturday. This is a major boost for Virat Kohli’s team as they will be traveling to England on May 22 for the mega event starting on May 30.

What’s the story?

During Indian Premier League 2019 Kedar Jadhav injured his shoulder in the group stage and missed the playoffs. Chennai Super king’s final league match against Kings XI Punjab saw him injuring himself while trying to save an overthrow at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium. Post the injury he spent his time with Team India physio Patrick Farhart with the aim of recovering from the injury as soon as possible. Thankfully he passed the fitness test on Thursday. According to the report submitted by Farhart to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Kedar Jadhav Declared Fit for World Cup 2019. The test was conducted by Farhart at the MCA’s BCK facility on Thursday morning.

Kedar Jadhav missed IPL 2018 due to a hamstring injury. He could play only one match in the previous season and missed the rest. Jadhav also missed India’s tour of England last year which had an impact on his performance during Asia Cup in September 2018. He had a disappointing season in IPL 2019 as he could manage only 162 runs in 12 innings and didn’t get much chance to bowl.

But Jadav will be an important member for Indian cricket team to maintain balance in the upcoming World Cup. This all-rounder provides stability to the batting order in the middle order and is useful with his unorthodox off-spin bowling as well. Till now in 59 ODIs Jadav has scored 1174 runs at an average of 43.48 and a strike rate over hundred with two hundred and five fifties. The 34-year old has also taken 27 wickets at 34.70. No wonder he is going to be a great asset for the Indian cricket team in the World Cup hunt in the UK.
