The women’s Premier League is going underway. After having a successful first season of WPL, the second season is going with all the thrills. The Chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Arun Dhumal, stated that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) could consider moving the Women’s Premier League to a different time slot in the future.

Arun Dumal on Next WPL Season:

The Chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Arun Dhumal, has affirmed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering relocating the Women’s Premier League to a different timeframe in the future. This potential move has been under consideration due to the challenges posed by scheduling in February and March, with several countries engaged in bilateral series during this period. The decision aims to address these scheduling conflicts for a more suitable and feasible window.

Dhumal has left the option open to alter the Women’s Premier League (WPL) schedule shortly but hasn’t confirmed this change. He also mentioned considering hosting the tournament in different locations for justified reasons. He said, “It all depends on the window we get. We have got five teams and making it home and away and giving them equal opportunities will be a huge task, that’s why we opted for two venues. While it is a neutral venue for most teams, they are also getting a chance to connect with their fans. The kind of crowd we saw in Bengaluru rooting for RCB or the Delhi crowd cheering for Delhi Capitals is phenomenal.”

Later he added, “Regards to women’s cricket, we will try our best in the window we get and find the best time to host the tournament to gain more traction among the lovers of the game.”

On WPL Success:

After arranging the first season of the WPL in Mumbai, Chairman Dhumal expresses high regard for the success of WPL in Bengaluru and Delhi this year. He anticipates the tournament’s growth in the coming years, aiming to make it the premier women’s league globally.

He said, “When you are at the venue, you can’t make out whether you are at a men’s IPL or women’s tournament. That’s the best thing about it. The quality of the game has been incredible. I am confident that going forward, WPL will not be the second best, but the best women’s league”
