IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans beat Ba11sy Trichy by 46 runs
Right then, that's all from this game. Tiruppur have two wins in a row and move up the table while Trichy are yet to pick up a win in this competition. The action in the 2023 Tamil Nadu T20 League continues on Monday 26th June as Chepauk take on Madurai at the SCF Cricket Ground in Salem and both teams are desperate for a win. The first ball will be bowled at 7.15 pm IST (1.45 pm GMT) but you can join us for the build-up well in advance. Until then, goodbye and cheers!
The Player of the Match is P Bhuvaneswaran for his outstanding bowling effort as he picked up a four-wicket haul and helped defend the target with ease.
Tiruppur suffered an early setback in their batting effort when they lost Tushar Raheja but a 96-run partnership between Sundararaman Radhakrishnan and Sai Kishore set up the foundation for their inning. The former played a supporting role scoring 45 runs in 42 deliveries while Kishore was the aggressor scoring 50 in 24 balls. B Anirudh Sita Ram played a blinder scoring 51 in 25 balls and Vijay Shankar ended with a flurry to get the side over the 200-run mark. Ravi Rajkumar, Ragupathy Silambarasan, Antony Dhas, and Karaparambil Monish picked up a wicket each but there were poor overall and conceded far too many runs. The batters were not in the best of form and the target proved to be too overwhelming for them.
Ganga Sridhar Raju got Trichy off to a flier in the first over and the man in form seemed to be in the mood to take his team home. However, the skipper was dismissed by another in-form player P Bhuvaneswaran who sent Karaparambil Monish back to shed on a golden duck. K Rajkumar and Daryl Ferrario looked to rebuild the inning but were falling well behind the required rate. Two quick wickets pegged them back once again and they never looked like they would reach the target. P Bhuvaneswaran was outstanding picking up four wickets in his quota of four overs with Ganeshan Periyaswamy and S Ajith Ram chipping in with one each. Ajith bowled a remarkable spell conceding just 9 runs in his four overs.
Tiruppur have consecutive wins and are making a strong comeback in the tournament! They have condemned Trichy to their fourth loss this campaign and they are still in the hunt for a maiden victory. After beating high-flying Nellai in their previous game, Tiruppur have demolished Trichy by runs to announce themselves to the league. Trichy are now staring at elimination as they were found wanting in all departments of the game.
