OUT! TAKEN! Length ball, outside off. Craig Young chips it straight towards covers. Alishan Sharafu is present over there and grabs the catch with ease. United Arab Emirates win by 54 runs!
Earlier in the day, Ireland put UAE into bat which did not prove to be a fruitful decision as the hosts put up a big total of 163 runs on the board. It was always going to be tough for the Irish batters today but no one expected them to bat this poorly. In the end, the UAE bowlers were excellent and Ireland suffered a heavy defeat.
United Arab Emirates did put up a stellar performance with the bat earlier in the day but their bowling performance was even better. UAE are known for their bowling and today they just proved how good their bowlers can be when on song. Akif Raja was the star upfront with the ball as he got a wicket each in his first 3 overs, setting the Irish batsmen on the back foot inside the Powerplay. They kept it tight in the middle overs and then Karthik Meiyappan just came in and spun a web around the Irish batters as he ended up scalping 4 wickets. In the end it was a very comfortable victory for the hosts.
Ireland got off to a woeful start as they lost their power hitter, Paul Stirling in the second over. The misery didn't stop there as they lost another 2 wickets inside the Powerplay and never really recovered from that position. Curtis Campher and Gareth Delany did put up a fightback but that didn't last for too long either. Wickets kept tumbling in every couple of overs and the asking rate was just out of reach. Ireland will be thoroughly disappointed by that sorry display with the bat today.
United Arab Emirates have come roaring back and have avenged yesterday's defeat by putting up a stellar performance. Ireland on the other will be disappointed with their overall performance today.
