Australia and the West Indies are on their way to experience another thrilling T20 series. Both teams are scheduled to play a three-match T20 series from February onwards. After finishing a thrilling Test series,  they are now on their way to play a T20 series against West Indies. Before that, they will play a three-match ODI series. Cricket Australia announced the squad for the T20 series.

Currently, West Indies is traveling to Australia for a long tour. Firstly, they met in a two-match Test series. In the first Test match, West Indies faced a defeat of 10 wickets. The second Test is scheduled to happen from January 25-29. After that, they will lock horns in a three-match ODI series. After concluding the ODI series, they will end the tour with a three-match T20 series starting from February 9. 

Before heading to the T20 series, Cricket Australia announced their squad. The squad contains (c), Sean Abbott, Jason Behrendorff, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Matt Short, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, David Warner, and Adam Zampa.

Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc’s Return:

Cricket Australia’s 14-member squad introduces some strategic changes. All-rounder Glenn Maxwell takes a break from the ODI series, while Josh Hazlewood joins the T20I lineup. Steve Smith is given a rest, and leadership duties pass to Mitchell Marsh, who led Australia in the previous ODI and T20I series against South Africa. Notably, David Warner and Tim David, currently in the ILT20 in Dubai, make a return to the T20I squad for the upcoming series against West Indies. Matthew Wade, the veteran wicketkeeper-batter, captained the team in the T20I series against India post the ODI World Cup triumph. 

Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc catch a breather in the T20I series against West Indies, citing “ongoing minor physical issues.” The seasoned pacers, having endured a challenging summer with five Test matches against Pakistan and West Indies, plan to stage their comeback in the T20I series against New Zealand.
