In the 15th match of the league, Lucknow Super Giants locked horns against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In that match, they registered a 28-run win over RCB. But apart from Lucknow’s performance, their young bowler Mayank Yadav grabbed the limelight. Against RCB, he registered one of his best performances. But a confusion raised over his and Gerald Coetzee’s speed.

Mayank Yadav’s Excellence:

After losing the first game against Rajasthan Royals, LSG faced a defeat. In the second match, Lucknow Super Giants brought a significant change. Mayank Yadav came into the playing xi and then the rest is history.  The Lucknow Super Giants’ young pacer has commenced his career in the league with a scintillating display of talent. His debut for the franchise against the Punjab Kings saw him making a memorable entry, showcasing his skills with an impressive performance, securing figures of 3/27 in four overs. Building on this strong start, he further solidified his reputation in the match against Bengaluru. There, he outshone his previous performance, conceding a mere 14 runs in his allotted overs while clinching three wickets once again. Among his notable dismissals were the star Australian duo of Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green, alongside Rajat Patidar.

The Confusion:

In the IPL, recent confusion erupted over inconsistencies in the recorded speeds of bowlers, causing confusion among fans and analysts alike. The spotlight fell on Gerald Coetzee from the Mumbai Indians, who reportedly registered a remarkable speed of 157.4kph during a match, instantly elevating him to the top of the list for the season’s fastest deliveries. However, the excitement was short-lived as discrepancies emerged just a day later when Mayank unleashed a delivery clocked at 156.7kph. Curiously, Coetzee’s name disappeared from the updated rankings, leaving many puzzled about the sudden change.

To the surprise of many, Mayank emerged as the new leader in the speed charts, surpassing Coetzee to secure the coveted top spot and claiming fourth place overall. A visual graphic shared by the Indian Premier League on their official social media account revealed the revised standings, with Shaun Tait retaining his position as the fastest bowler in the league with a staggering speed of 157.7kph.

Mayank is The Fastest:

In the match against the Royals, it was revealed that there was an error with the speedometer during Coetzee’s delivery, indicating that his actual speed was approximately 141kph, not the previously reported 157.4kph. This clarification resolves any uncertainties regarding Mayank’s position as the fastest bowler in the league.

LSG has found a gem in the season. Depending on his ability, LSG dominated the opponent in the previous game. He missed the entire previous season due to an injury and came back in this season being stronger. He can be a crucial player for the Lucknow Super Giants for the ongoing IPL 2024.
