The most awaited time has arrived. World Cup 2023 has raised its curtain. England and New Zealand played the inaugural match. Fans started cheering for their time. On October 8, India will start their World Cup. In the first match, India is taking on Australia. They both are powerful teams in the tournament. Both teams are ready to take on all the challenges. But Australia suffered through an injury blow before the World Cup. But just before the tournament, every player returned to the squad but Nathan Lyon was not a part of the team. He has announced his comeback.
Nathan Lyon’s injury:
Nathan Lyon is a star bowler of the Australian side. He was suffering from a calf injury. He has not played cricket since the second Ashes match due to this injury. He was out of the tournament due to that injury. After weeks of rehab, he has recovered from the injury and is ready to play cricket.
He has talked about his recovery. He said, “A little bit different, but excited to get back there. Haven’t played grade cricket in Seven years, so will be something different. It’s all been going well. My gym session has gone from about 50 minutes to about three hours now. It was very challenging at the start when the guys were still playing in the Ashes. I found myself struggling a fair bit, just mentally.”
He added, “ If that happened, I’d do anything to go over and play the World Cup. the squad they’ve got there looks pretty exciting…and I’m pretty excited tonight, to be honest.”
Nathan Lyon’s career:
Nathan Lyon is the star bowler of the Australian side. He has grown right from the ground. He was a ground staff at the early stage. Later he was spotted by Darren Berry. After that, there was no look back. He played 122 test matches and picked up 496 wickets. He has twenty-two 4-wicket hauls and twenty-three 5-wicket hauls. Along with it, he has four 10-wicket hauls.
He played 29 matches and took 29 wickets. He has one 4-wicket haul in that format. He is in the sixth position by taking the most consecutive catches for a team. He is in the sixth position by taking the fastest 450 wickets. As a player, he took 100 wickets and 1000 runs.
Australia is competing with all their strength in the tournament. But before the tournament, Australia was not in good form. They lost the ODI series against South Africa. They lost a few matches by more than 100 runs margin. They played a three-match ODI series against India and lost in it too. India defeated them by 2-1. They will try to conquer in the World Cup.
