This is an amazing achievement by the veteran Indian bowler. After reaching the exciting milestone, Australian bowler Nathan Lyon congratulated him. That video went viral.

Ashwin’s Milestone

Ravichandran Ashwin scripted history by becoming only the second Indian bowler and the ninth globally to secure an incredible 500 wickets in Test cricket. This remarkable achievement unfolded during the ongoing Test match against England in Rajkot. Ashwin’s journey to this milestone began with 499 wickets after the second Test in Vizag, culminating in his 500th wicket with the dismissal of Zak Crawley on Day 2 of the third Test.

The off-spinner now stands as the ninth bowler in Test history to breach the coveted 500-wicket barrier, marking a feat previously accomplished only by Anil Kumble in India. Ashwin joins the esteemed company of spin legends such as Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Anil Kumble, and Nathan Lyon, who precede him in the list of the highest wicket-takers in Test history.

Notably, Ashwin achieved this remarkable milestone in just 98 Test matches, making him the second-quickest in Test history to reach such heights, following in the footsteps of Muttiah Muralitharan. This accomplishment sets him apart, as each of the other seven bowlers took over 100 Test matches to achieve the 500-wicket milestone. Ashwin’s exceptional contribution to Indian cricket and his prowess as a spin maestro continue to leave an indelible mark on the sport’s rich legacy.
