Team India completed their three-match T20 series against Afghanistan. It was their last T20 series before the T20 World Cup. In the whole series, the team showcased their dominance and prowess. They whitewashed the visitors by a 3-0 margin. In the series, Shivam Dube was an asset to the team. He showed his all-round performance. After watching that performance, former Indian player Zaheer Khan hails Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube to be a part of India’s T20 World Cup squad.

Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube as All-Rounders:

This series against Afghanistan was a golden opportunity for Shivam Dube. He justice the all-rounder’s role in the team. He got out early in the third match. But he amazed the fans with his performance in the first two matches. He played unbeaten knocks while batting. Even in bowling, he took some crucial wickets that helped India to win the match.

On the other hand, Hardik was absent from the recent T20I series against Afghanistan due to an ongoing recovery from an ankle injury suffered in the previous year’s ODI World Cup. The all-rounder continues to focus on recuperation to ensure a full and sustained return to the cricketing field.

Zaheer Khan’s Words:

In a chat, Aakash Chopra inquired if both Hardik and Dube might secure spots in India’s T20 World Cup squad, seeking Zaheer’s opinion on their potential inclusion. He said, “They definitely can be if you are planning like that. It will depend a lot on whether you are looking for a sixth bowling option or want to play five bowlers, the direction in which you want to go.”

Further, he added, “If you say you need a sixth bowling option, you need a backup as well. If you talk about the squad, you can see both Hardik and Shivam Dube together only if you take one wicketkeeper instead of two wicketkeepers.”

During the conversation, Zaheer Khan was questioned if Shivam Dube brings to mind shades of Yuvraj Singh, seeking his comparison between the two players. He said, “A few glimpses are seen for sure, especially when he bends down and plays the shot over midwicket. In the T20 format, when the field opens up in the middle phase after the powerplay, you need to have a player who can hit over the top and get a six anytime
