West Indies all-rounder Fabian Allen faced a harrowing experience when he was robbed at gunpoint during his time with the Paarl Royals in the SA20 2024 league. The incident, which unfolded outside the well-known Sandton Sun Hotel, left the 28-year-old cricketer in a state of shock.

Reports reveal that Allen was surrounded by assailants who, at gunpoint, forcibly took his phone, bag, and other personal belongings. The terrifying nature of the incident highlights the vulnerability of athletes even in seemingly secure locations. Franchise’s Statement:

In an official statement posted on their website this Monday, the Royals acknowledged the incident involving Fabian Allen occurred in the early hours of January 25, following their match against Joburg Super Kings. However, it remains unconfirmed whether Allen or the Royals reported the incident to the police. SA20 League has been approached for a response. While the Royals’ statement did not provide specific details, it assured that Allen is “safe” and gearing up for the Eliminator against Super Kings scheduled for Wednesday in Cape Town.

The statement said, “The franchise works closely with the league to ensure the safety and well-being of its players and staff, while also allowing them to have free personal time as well. Following the incident, the player was provided with the necessary support by the franchise and the league, and [he] was keen to continue his participation at the SA20, and has since been available for selection.”
